On the 16th March 2020, the UK government made the decision to go into total lockdown, and it wasn’t until the 19th July 2021 that the UK was deemed safe enough to allow for ‘Freedom Day’. The following Friday, as part of the iconic Brighton venue Concorde 2’s 21st birthday celebrations, UK electronic legend Carl Cox played what would go on to be a historic set on Brighton Beach.

On this week 10 years ago, Amy Winehouse sadly passed away. Amy was an English singer songwriter, and quite possibly the best voice of her generation, known for her deep, expressive vocals and meaningful lyrics, inspired through an eclectic blend of musical genres stemming from soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Inspired through family relations, it appeared that Amy was always destined to be involved with jazz. Many of her uncles were professional jazz musicians, whilst Amy’s grandmother even dated the famous saxophonist, and prestigious bar owner Ronnie Scott.

Amy’s love affair with music began at a very early age…

If we’re being honest, Brexit has been an absolute disaster, the whole way through. Most recently, Brexit has claimed the music industry as its latest victim, and as a result of this, touring musicians and their careers have been placed in to jeopardy. To put this into context, the EU touring market for UK artists was the world’s biggest, nearly four times the size of the US, not to mention the fact that the UK touring industry provides over 33,000 British jobs. …

Sam Fender began his career as a normal bloke, and despite the fame, he still is, which is all part of his charm. Prior to catapulting himself to one of the best young artists in the country, Fender worked in a call centre, a restaurant and a local pub where he was subsequently discovered by his manager, but his background has played a huge role in getting him to where he is now.

Music perhaps would have found Sam naturally seeing as his dad and brother are both singer-songwriters. As a result of this, Sam picked up his first guitar…

One of the most memorable England national team anthems, aside from Skinner and Baddiel’s ‘Three Lions’, and Fat Les’ ‘Vindaloo’ was created in 1990 as the Three Lions were gearing up for Italia ’90. Now, over three decades later, as the England lads are currently flying high in Euro 2020, the legendary New Order single ‘World In Motion’ featuring various Lions still heavily resonates with many fans to this day.

Star-studded cast for Space Jam 1996. Bill Murray (Left), Bugs Bunny (Middle), Michael Jordan (Right).

The original Space Jam in 1996 was famous for the star-studded cast that featured the likes of Michael Jordan, Bill Murray, Wayne Knight, Kath Soucie, and Danny DeVito, along with some of the biggest names to have ever featured in NBA history.
