Blink 182. Pop-Punk Legends.

20 years ago, Blink 182 released their revolutionary album ‘Take Off Your Pants and Jackets’ which propelled the band to being one of the biggest names in the world, as the album provided both comedic value and simultaneously showcased the groups serious musical talent. Since the release in 2001, the band have broken up, formed separate bands, started their respective solo careers, got back together, broke up again, and now Blink 182 are back together once more (without Tom DeLonge).

But whilst it’s easy to wallow in early noughties nostalgia, a new wave of pop-punk was emerging in the mainstream once again. Olivia Rodrigo, on her latest single, ‘Good 4 U’ showed off a more pop-punk side to her musical nous, with the track being likened to Paramore’s ‘Misery Business’, whilst Machine Gun Kelly, Kenny Hoopla, and now even Will Smith’s daughter Willow have all played their part in seeing the 90s born genre hit the top of the charts once more. But there appears to be a common theme as to why this is, and the answer is Blink 182’s drummer, Travis Barker.
